Telangana government launches new IT Policy

Hyderabad: Aiming to compete with the Silicon Valley in USA, the Telanagna state has unveiled its new Information Technology (IT) policy on Monday by setting an ambition to double its IT exports from the present Rs 68,232 crore in the next five years.
Newly formed Telangana State mainly aims on employment and also hopes to double the job opportunities in IT sector to 8 lakh in next five years.
Telangana government launches new IT Policy
Telangana Chief Minister, K Chandrasekhar Rao gave a warm welcome to the IT industry. The event was attended by Honorable Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan, Infosys Chairman Emeritus N.R. Narayana Murthy, IT minister K.T. Rama Rao, and many other IT delegates.
“Benchmark yourself with the best in the world and the rest of the country follows you,” Infosys Chairman Emeritus N.R. Narayana Murthy said on Monday during the launch of the state’s new IT policy. Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan gave importance on taking technology to the rural areas and exuded confidence that TS would address it effectively as stated in the IT policy.
Features of New IT Policy:
· To double the value of IT exports from the current Rs 68,232 crore in 5 years
· To create 8 lakh job opportunities in IT sector in 5 years
· To establish IT hubs in tier – II and tier – III cities
· Tailor-made package of incentives for mega IT projects and marquee IT companies
The rural IT hubs will be called Rural Technology Centres (RTCs). The RTC can be set up either in a mandal or village, with a population of not less than 50,000.
While focusing on the Information Technology in a big way the TS government is also planning to address the problem of inappropriate content on the internet.
