Telecom operators in India have slashed the roaming rates with effect from today. Country’s biggest operators that include Airtel, Vodafone, and Idea have slashed roaming rates by almost 75 percent. This cut is in the wake of TRAI slashing the ceiling tariffs.
The call rates will now be 40 percent cheaper and SMS will go down by 75 percent while in roaming.
Bharti Airtel affirmed that the incoming call rates will get a price cut of up to 40 percent, while the outgoing will be cheaper by 23 percent. Likewise, Vodafone said that the customers will now have to pay 45 paise/minute for incoming calls in the home network while calls from other states get a cut by 40 percent.
Similarly, other telecom operators like Idea Cellular and Reliance have also slashed roaming call rates by 40 per cent and these changes are coming into effect from May 1.
