The start of the fiscal year for July 1 is generally when the changes in organization are made. But this time the organization expects more significant changes as Microsoft is set to reorganize the sales division and is focusing more on cloud-focused business.

The popular ‘TechCrunch’ reported that thousands of employees will face the axe around the world. While the reports are afloat of layoffs, the organization has refused to comment on the news. Some media reports said that the cuts could be less significant and that the organization is attempting to reassign affected staff to other divisions in the organization.

The spokesperson for Microsoft on an emailed statement said, “Microsoft is implementing changes to better serve our customers and partners.”

In 2016, Microsoft laid off 2,850 jobs as part od changes in hardware and sales team. This contradicts with the increase of 1,850 roles that were announced two months prior to July.
