On Saturday, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to address the ‘Smart India Hackathon’, which is said to be the world’s largest hackathon. This event is aimed at the promotion of new innovations and would witness 10,000 students. The Ministry of Electronics and IT said that the students will try and solve 598 problems.
These problems have been identified and put forward by the Central Government. These 598 issues include geo-fencing at airports, smart traffic management, cyber attacks, online toll collection and also smart drones that can make the airspace safer. The event, which starts at 8 AM on Saturday will be held in 26 locations and held for 36 hours. Each of these 26 locations will be managed by a ministry or a central government department.

The event will be held in groups and the three groups that emerge on top will be awarded Rs. 1 lakh, Rs. 75,000 and Rs. 50,000 respectively. The solutions provided by these groups will be implemented by the central government and if necessary upgrade the governance system suitably. The three winners will be forming a group called Community of Innovative Minds.
This event is aimed at providing awareness about the patents of the country as India registers 40 patents per million according to the World Intellectual Property Organisation.
