So, WhatsApp lately updated its web interface WhatsApp Web by introducing the much needed features in the desktop version that now lets users change and edit their profile pictures and statuses. Now, WhatsApp has shifted focus on its mobile app and is contemplating to further enhance its mobile app.
According to the new reports, WhatsApp, now owned by Facebook might soon be replicating Facebook’s cliché options by introducing ‘Like’ button and also ‘Mark as unread’ button.
Ilhan Pektas, a WhatsApp beta tester tweeted about the feature of ‘Like’ button that might soon get introduced on WhatsApp. Though the tweet mentioned about the introduction of Like button, it is still not known how they will use it in the interface.
Though we can understand Like button’s implementation, it will be interesting to see how they will use ‘mark as unread’ feature for the users who have read receipts feature activated on their phone, that immediately notifies the sender that the user has read the message.
