Bengaluru: Andhra Pradesh Water Resources Department Adviser, N. Kannaya Naidu, has been selected for the prestigious Kannada Rajyotsava award by the Karnataka government. This recognition, awarded on Karnataka Statehood Day on November 1, acknowledges Naidu’s critical role in managing flood damage to the Tungabhadra reservoir.
Earlier this year, on August 10, severe flooding damaged the 19th crest of the Tungabhadra reservoir. Naidu, leading a team of engineers, played a key role in averting a major disaster by ensuring the safe management of water resources in the reservoir. His exemplary efforts have now earned him a spot among the 50 recipients of this year’s Rajyotsava awards, given across various fields for outstanding service.
Naidu was honored under the “Neighboring Service” category, highlighting his contribution to Karnataka’s water safety efforts. Alongside him, the government awarded Arun Yogiraj in the “Sculpture” category for his work on Lord Rama’s statue for the Ayodhya Ram Mandir.
