Nellore: Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s free sand policy has received positive feedback from workers, builders, and tractor owners in Nellore, who praised the initiative at an event held on Wednesday. Organized by MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy at the TDP office, the event titled “Free Sand on Public Happiness” highlighted the benefits local communities are experiencing due to reduced sand costs.
Before this policy, builders in Nellore paid Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 6,000 for a load of sand, a figure that has now dropped to around Rs. 1,000 under the new system. Builders and tractor owners shared that, unlike during the previous administration, they now receive full loads of sand, leading to reduced expenses and improved earnings. They recalled difficulties they faced when, under the Vaikapa regime, sand was heavily regulated, with tippers prioritized over smaller transport vehicles.
The program served as a platform for various workers and drivers to express gratitude to Chief Minister Chandrababu for this policy, which has made sand accessible and affordable, thereby easing their livelihood struggles. MLA Sridhar Reddy added that during the previous administration, illegal sand business was widespread, but this policy change has ensured transparency and support for local workers.
