Visakhapatnam: A low-pressure area formed in the Bay of Bengal on Saturday is likely to intensify into a cyclone by Monday, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The system is expected to move west-northwestwards, heading towards the Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka coasts within the next two days.

Due to its influence, Andhra Pradesh is likely to witness light to moderate rainfall over the next three days. Heavy rainfall is expected in certain parts of Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. IMD warns that some weather models predict the depression could evolve into a severe storm before gradually weakening into a low-pressure system as it approaches the Tamil Nadu coast.

Disaster Management Organization MD Kurmanath has urged farmers to take necessary precautions while engaging in agricultural activities during this period of unpredictable weather.

Residents in vulnerable areas are advised to stay updated on weather forecasts and take appropriate safety measures.
