Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) working President and former Minister K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) has urged for a comprehensive loan waiver for all farmers in the state, highlighting discrepancies between the promises made and the actual implementation. KTR has formally raised this issue in a letter addressed to AICC President Mallikarjuna Kharge, who has been asked to bring the matter to the attention of Rahul Gandhi.
In his letter, KTR stressed the disparity between the Chief Minister’s assurances and the ground reality. He pointed out that, according to the Warangal Rythu declaration, a loan waiver of up to Rs. 2 lakh was promised to farmers. However, only 40 percent of farmers have benefited from the waiver so far. He criticized the partial implementation, stating that out of the Rs. 40,000 crore initially pledged for loan waivers, only Rs. 17,000 crore has been disbursed.
KTR emphasized that the incomplete loan waiver has severely impacted farmers, pushing them into financial distress. He vowed that the party would continue to advocate for the farmers’ rights and seek full justice on their behalf.
