Tadepalli: YSRCP MLA Malladi Vishnu criticized the TDP government for its handling of flood relief efforts in Vijayawada, calling the process a “complete failure.” He demanded that a proper re-enumeration of flood victims be completed by October 4 and urged the state government to pressure the central government to declare the floods a national disaster to secure additional funds.
Addressing the media on Tuesday, Vishnu highlighted inconsistencies in the enumeration process, stating that while the government claimed 97% of victims had received cash relief, the reality was starkly different. He revealed that 22,185 people had yet to receive any assistance. Vishnu condemned TDP leaders for allegedly selecting beneficiaries through secretariats and expressed frustration over the lack of action on the evidence of irregularities that had been submitted.
He further criticized the government’s failure to issue timely flood warnings and provide adequate aid, labeling the response an “utter failure.” Despite a report requesting Rs 7,000 crore in relief, only Rs 600 crore had been sanctioned, which Vishnu said was insufficient and poorly managed.
Vishnu warned that if the state government did not take action, the YSRCP would organize statewide protests in support of the flood victims.
