Visakhapatnam: Opposition Leader in the Legislative Council Botsa Satyanarayana, along with former Deputy Chief Minister Budi Mutyala Naidu and former Ministers Karumuri Nageswara Rao and Gudivada Amarnath, condemned both the central and state governments for their alleged conspiracy to privatize the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant. They called for urgent action to protect workers’ jobs and ensure their welfare.

Speaking at a press conference, Botsa Satyanarayana raised concerns over the recent termination of 3,725 contract workers at the Steel Plant, accusing the authorities of systematically removing workers and canceling their employment cards. He warned that any further dismissals would result in large-scale protests and urged the central government to safeguard workers’ jobs. He also called on the state government to apply pressure on the issue and uphold the promises made prior to the elections.

Botsa criticized the government’s focus on reducing alcohol prices while neglecting the rising costs of essential goods like rice, pulses, oil, and vegetables. He questioned the government’s priorities, calling for more attention to public welfare.

Regarding the Lulu project in Visakhapatnam, Botsa clarified that the previous government had canceled the project due to its lack of economic viability. Instead, an IT tower was developed, creating 2,000 jobs.
