Rajahmundry: Former MP Margani Bharat has accused Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of mismanaging the Polavaram project, alleging violations of technical protocols. During a media interaction at the party office in Rajahmundry, Bharat called on Naidu to take responsibility for the project’s failures and apologize to the public.
Bharat highlighted that Naidu deviated from standard procedures by constructing the diaphragm wall before completing the cofferdams, a decision he claims was driven by personal gain and aimed at inflating project costs. He referenced reports from international expert committees that echoed these concerns, stating that Naidu’s actions led to severe setbacks and financial losses, including damage to the diaphragm wall.
The former MP further criticized Naidu for deflecting blame onto the previous government led by former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. He emphasized that the Jagan-led government had completed the spillway and installed hydraulic gates but argued that Naidu’s mismanagement caused the current issues.
Bharat revealed that a new expert committee has been formed, with plans to resume work on the diaphragm wall in November 2024 and complete it by April 2025, before the monsoon season.
