Nidadavolu: A team of ministers inspected crop fields damaged by flooding from the Red Canal in East Godavari district. State Agriculture Minister Kinjarapu Achchennaidu, Home and Disaster Management Minister Anitha, and Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh visited several inundated villages in Undrajavaram and Nidadavolu mandals. District Collector Prashanthi detailed the extent of crop damage to the ministers, who also distributed essential items to flood victims in Thallapalem village.
Minister Achchennaidu addressed the media, stating that heavy rains have severely damaged crops in both Godavari districts. He emphasized that, following CM Chandrababu’s orders, the damage is under investigation. Achchennaidu noted that farmers in 20 constituencies have lost crops due to the Red Canal’s impact. He attributed the losses to the previous government’s failure to remove canal silt and repair sluices.
To address the issue, authorities have been ordered to urgently repair the canal’s damage caused by heavy rains. Achchennaidu assured that, regardless of the cost, permanent flood prevention measures will be implemented to protect farmers from future Red Canal flooding.
