Hyderabad: MLC Alugubelli Narsireddy has expressed concern over the lack of focus on the education sector by the Congress government, even after eight months in power. Speaking as the Chief Guest at an event organized by the Student Federation of India (SFI) at Indira Park on Friday, Narsireddy urged the government to appoint an Education Minister and permanent Vice Chancellors to address the sector’s growing issues.
He criticized the delay in implementing the promised law for regulating corporate and private school fees, while also pointing out that ₹8,252 crore in fee reimbursement arrears have been pending for six and a half years. SFI State President RL Murthy and Secretary Nagaraju demanded an increase in menu charges across the state’s 3,214 hostels and called for the formation of a common board to unify all Gurukul institutions.
Following the event, students attempted to march to the state secretariat but were detained by the police. In response, the SFA has called for statewide protests on Saturday to condemn the arrests.
Several notable figures, including UTF State Secretary Chava Ravi, TPTLF State Convener Aitha Vijay, and DYF State Secretary Venkatesh, also participated in the event.
