Hyderabad: In a significant move, Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has assured former local body representatives, such as ex-sarpanches and MPTCs, that their long-overdue bills will be cleared soon. He confirmed that payments for development works up to ₹10 lakh would be processed in the coming days, offering much-needed relief to those who have been waiting for financial compensation.
In recent weeks, these representatives have voiced their concerns over unpaid dues, which total over ₹1,000 crore. Many have been forced to sell assets or take out loans to finance projects started under the previous government. Opposition parties have also expressed support for the demand, urging the current administration to clear the dues at the earliest.
Deputy CM Bhatti criticized the previous government for pressuring local representatives to take on projects without ensuring payments were made. He promised that the state would begin disbursing the ₹1,300 crore in installments, with ₹400 crore earmarked for immediate payment.
Alongside addressing the financial issues, the government is also focusing on promoting renewable energy. The PM-KUSUM scheme, which aims to install solar power plants in agricultural fields, will allow farmers, cooperatives, and panchayats to benefit from the initiative.
With these efforts, the Telangana government is working to resolve immediate financial challenges while ensuring long-term growth and sustainability.
