Amaravati: A significant portion of the Vijayawada Western Bypass, a critical infrastructure project in the capital region, is set to open by April. This bypass will streamline traffic flow between Hyderabad and Vijayawada while providing a direct route to the Amaravati capital area.

During Sankranthi, vehicles traveling from Hyderabad to Eluru were diverted from Gollapudi via Chinna Avutapalli, bypassing Vijayawada city. Now, efforts are underway to open a 7 km stretch from Gollapudi to the capital via the Krishna River, reducing congestion and offering a shorter route for vehicles from Ibrahimpatnam and Gollapudi.

The bypass, spanning 30 km from Chinna Avutapalli to Kaja, is nearing completion, with only high-tension power line adjustments pending. A 4 km six-lane road and a 3.12 km bridge over the Krishna River will connect Gollapudi with the Seed Access Road, making travel to Amaravati easier.

Despite delays under the previous administration, the coalition government has prioritized flyovers and cloverleaf interchanges at major grid roads. The remaining work, including five flyovers, is expected to be completed by next year.

This partial bypass opening will reduce travel distance by 10 km, ensuring smoother connectivity to the Amaravati capital region.
