Ahead of the inauguration of the newly renovated Habibganj Railway Station in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, the railway station has been renamed.

On the 15th of November, the Central Government renamed the Habibganj Railway Station to Rani Kamlapati Railway Station.  The decision was taken to honour the last Hindu queen of Bhopal and widow of Nizam Shah ruler.

Initially, the BJP leaders of Madhya Pradesh urged to rename the railway station after the late Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the former Prime Minister of India.  The decision to rename the railway station after Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee is to honour him, who was said to be associated with the state and city.  However, later they proposed to rename the station after the last queen of Bhopal, who contributed to the development of the State, during her rule.

However, the proposal of the BJP has disappointed the Indian National Congress, which criticised the Party.  The INC said, “This Government doesn’t believe in working rather has faith in renaming things.”

Meanwhile, Mr. Narendra Modi is going to inaugurate the renamed Habibganj Railway Station today, the 15th of November.

The new revamped station is billed as the country’s first world class railway station built on a public private partnership (PPP) mode.  The world class Rani Kamlapati Railway Station has been renovated at a cost Rs. 450 crores.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the renovated world class railway station at 3:00 P.M., today.
