In a major relief to Mr. Pawan Khera, the Spokesperson of the Indian National Congress (INC,) the Supreme Court (SC) granted him bail.
It is to be noted, on the 23rd of February, the SC bench headed by the Chief Justice of India (CJI) D.Y. Chandrachud, reviewed a petition filed against the arrest of Pawan Khera. After the hearing at 3:00 P.M., the court granted him interim bail.
The CJI led Top Court bench also issued notice to the Assam Police and the Uttar Pradesh Police regarding the arrest of Pawan Khera. It is to be noted, Mr. Pawan Khera was arrested from the Delhi Airport on Thursday afternoon.
According to sources, Khera, who was on his way to Raipur, Chhattisgarh and boarded an IndiGo flight, was forcefully deboarded. Following the same, the Assam Police arrested Mr. Pawan Khera.
The controversial arrest was made in the view of Pawan Khera’s remark against PM Narendra Modi during a rally.
While the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) criticised Pawan Khera for the comments and demanded action, the INC also criticised the BJP Government for ‘dictatorship’.
