On Tuesday the Goa Police arrested 11 tourists from a Goa beach after they assaulted two constables. The police officials said this incident occurred at the Calangute beach in Goa, after they were asked to not create a nuisance after alcohol consumption.

The officials said the incident took place at 3: 45 P.M., on Tuesday when the constables asked the group of 11 to stop consuming alcohol and behave themselves.

Jivba Dalvi the Inspector of Calangute Police Station speaking to the media on Tuesday night said, “The tourists, who hailed from Haryana and Delhi, were inebriated when they started hitting the constables who were in uniform.”

The group was arrested under various sections of the Indian Penal Code. They were presented before the court on Wednesday but were reprimanded to judicial custody. The police officials said, “The medical examination confirmed the presence of alcohol in their blood.”

Cases of violence have been increasing in Goa over the last decade and the police have started taking the necessary action.
