Ahmedabad: The key accused of 2002 Godhra train incident, Imran Batuk was arrested by the Ahmedabad crime branch. The accused was caught in a joint operation carried out by ATS and Ahmedabad crime branch occurred in Maharashta’s Malegaon district.
Earlier, Bhana who allegedly carried kerosene with him to blow it up the S-6 coach of the Sabarmati Express train near the Godhra railway station, was arrested in Kaalol town, around 25 km from Godhra city.

The train attack, that left 59 people dead, had triggered widespread violence in the state in which over 1,000 people were killed. The 59 people who died in the attack were mostly Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) activists returning from Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh.
