3 MEN FOUND CARRYING 12.5 LAKH IN CAR- MOSTLY Rs 2000 NOTES!

While thousands of Indians are struggling to swap banned notes from the banks, a family in Ahmedabad managed to get 12.4 lakhs in cash, with most of it being Rs. 2000 notes. The police had stopped three men who were travelling in a Maruti Swift and found that they were carrying a heavy amount of cash. When asked, the men told police that the money was withdrawn from different accounts to pay for a wedding. The money was then handed over to tax officials after the men failed to provide evidence like a wedding card.

Due to the demonetization of Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 notes, families of either bride or groom are allowed to withdraw an amount of 2.5 lakhs in cash. But to make payments in cash it is required to provide proof that the vendor does not have a bank account!shadow

Last week, two Port Trust officials in Gujarat had accepted a bribe of Rs. 2.9 lakh and the entire amount was in the form of new Rs. 2000 notes. Cases like these give rise to many questions, one of which is, will the demonetization of the currency by Prime Minister Narendra Modi help curb corruption? Are we really heading towards a corruption free India?
