Every day a new incident of animal mutilation comes to light and stirs the souls. And things are bound to get awry when this is done by a person in a field respected and revered by many. Doctors are the saviors and considered equal to god for their capability to save lives. In a Shocking post shared by Shravan Krishnan on his Facebook page, four students of Christian Medical college in Vellore, allegedly mutilated tortured and killed a female monkey.
This incident took place when a female monkey entered their dorm room, the students caught it, tied it up and repeatedly tortured the animal. They tied her hands and started abusing and torturing her by beating her with sticks and belts, broke her legs, jaws and finally put a rod up her anus and killed her. The monkey was buried behind the hostel mess by the college sweepers.
The event happened on Nov 19 at midday. This was supposedly reported to the Principal, who failed to take action against these students, on the basis of lack of evidence. When no action was taken on repeated insisting a student, who wanted to remain anonymous, called PETA India emergency helpline on Monday evening.
Krishnan along with three other activists Dinesh Baba, Nishanth and Anthony from Chennai reached Vellore and urged the college authorities and Police to inspect the surroundings. The monkey’s body was excavated and then sent to post mortem. The principal then assured to take a strict action against these students. A FIR has been filed against these students under IPC section 429 and Wildlife protection act of 1972.
The students have been suspended but are yet to be arrested and acquitted. The netizens who are outraged in this matter after seeing the video and images hope that the animal will receive justice soon. This kind of incidents have increased many folds in the recent past and more and more incidents come to light every day.
