Patna: At least 38 people were killed on Tuesday evening due to lightning in the Bihar. Nearly 25 others were also injured, according to the State disaster management department. Vyasji, the Principal Secretary of the department, said that Rs 4 lakh compensation would be given by the government to the kin of the victims.
Mr. Vyasji said, “We’re still getting the details of deaths due to lightning from District Magistrates of other districts too…it will take some time to reach a final figure of toll due to lightning strike in the State in last 24 hours.”
It is estimated that the death toll is expected to rise as reports are coming in from other districts across the state. Reports stated that as many as 46 people have been killed in lightning strike in the state, according to rough estimation.
