Allahabad High Court issues stay order to makers of Freedom 251

New Delhi: The Allahabad High Court have issued a stayed order to the directors of Ringing Bells Pvt Ltd, India’s cheapest phone ‘Freedom 251’. The famous Noida based company that created a global buzz after the launch of India’s cheapest smart fall last month.
After hearing the plea, the judicial bench B.K Narayan and Shashi Kant ordered the UP state government to submit a status report on an urgent basis by April 5, till then no coercive steps to be taken against the accused.

The FIR was registered last week against Goel and company president Ashok Chaddha under Section 420 of the Indian Penal Code as well as Information Technology Act on a complaint filed by BJP leader Kirit Somaiya.

The complaint was lodged as the BJP leader suspected Ringing Bells to be a ‘ponzi scam’ and that the company had raised funds by issuing ‘misleading’ advertisements. The petitioners had submitted before the court that the entire amount received by Ringing Bells from the prospective customers of the smart phone amounting to Rs 84 lakh has been returned ‘individually to all the customers’.
