Anil Madhav Dave, the Union Environment Minister passed away on Thursday morning at the age of 60. According to reports, the minister has not been well from the last few months. In the early hours at his residence, Dave complained of uneasiness and was rushed to the AIIMS. He passed away at the hospital.
The Minister was in a meeting with PM Narendra Modi till late evening on Wednesday. The PM tweeted about his death and called him a ‘devoted public servant.’ Several Minister expressed their condolences too.
The PM wrote, “I was with Anil Madhav Dave ji till late last evening, discussing key policy issues. This demise is a personal loss.” He added, “Anil Madhav Dave ji will be remembered as a devoted public servant. He was tremendously passionate towards conserving the environment.”

Dave is the second Union Minister that died in power in BJP government. He took charge as the Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change (Independent Charge), in New Delhi on July 6, 2016.

The minister was elected to Rajya Sabha in August 2009 from Madhya Pradesh. He joined as a member of Committee on Water Resources and also a consultant to the committee for Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
