Anna Hazare is known for his movement to end corruption in the government. He has spoken out against the Modi government and threatened another protest like 2011 as the government fails to appoint a Lokpal and create a corrupt free India.
Hazare was quoted saying, “The movement I started for appointing a Lokpal is incomplete, which is why there is a need for another agitation.”
He further added, “The government failed to appoint a Lokpal in the last three years. In fact, it has weakened the Act (The Lokpal and Lokayukta Act, 2013.”)
Hazare has stated that he will launch the movement at the end of this year or beginning of the next year.
Anna Hazare managed to bring thousands of people to the streets in 2011 to protest against corruption. He has attacked the government for failing to fulfill the project to bring back black money stashed abroad and putting the Swaminathan Commission report in action.
Hazare claims, “He (the prime minister) has shown no interest in appointing a Lokpal. When he was the chief minister of Gujarat, he did not want a Lokayukta. So he went to the High Court against the move and later approached the Supreme Court.”
The Lokpal man has been sending multiple letters to the Prime Minister about the appointment of the Lokpal. Hazare was asked if he ever received a response to which he said, “There has been no response to my letter. Why will they write back to me? They only respond to industrialists.”
