Twitter is trending with #SoniaGoonsAttackArnab, #ISupportArnab and #ArrestArnab, after a recent incident of physical assault on TV Republic journalist Arnab Goswami.

Mr. Goswami once again became the most searched and trending hashtag on Twitter after he alleged Sonia Gandhi, the interim President of the Indian National Congress (INC,) of being behind the attack.
On the 22nd of April, Arnab Goswami and his wife were attacked by two unidentified goons when they were in a Toyota Corolla, on the way to their home.
In a video, Arnab Goswami said the incident took place when he was 500 metres away from his home. He said, “At around 12:15 A.M., (the 23rd of April,) I was driving back from the studio with my wife. My car was overtaken by two people on two bikes. They turned to me, pointed at me, they started hitting my car and trying to break the windowpane.”
Arnab Goswami alleged Sonia Gandhi was behind the attack and called her a coward. He said if anything happens to Arnab Goswami and his family, Sonia Gandhi and the Wadhra family would be responsible.
Mr. Goswami said, “They had tailed me and they were given information by higher ups to attack me. I want to tell you Sonia Gandhi, you are the biggest coward in the country right now. You have no guts to face me and I will hold you personally responsible. If anything were to happen to me, Sonia Gandhi will be responsible.”
Soon the attack took a political turn when the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders condemned the attack on the journalist and criticised the INC and Sonia Gandhi.
Prakash Javadekar, the Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and Minister of Information and Broadcasting, took to Twitter and condemned the attack against journalists.
Mr. Javadekar, who was silent on attacks on journalists, finally spoke and said, “This is against democracy and, ironically, those who preach tolerance have become so intolerant. Therefore we condemn this attempt.”z
Meanwhile, INC Ministers like Ashok Gehlot, Captain Amrinder Singh Gill and Bhupesh Baghel, deemed Arnab’s allegations as a motive to defame INC the interim President and the Gandhi family.
Arnab Goswami is one of those journalists who has the Y category of security, including two personal security officers (PSOs) in India.
