K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, on the night of the 22nd of April, conducted an emergency review meeting over the COVID-19 situation in the State.

The high level review meeting was conducted at 11:30 P.M., at Pragati Bhavan, Hyderabad, Telangana. Telangana Health Minister Etela Rajender, State Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar, Director General of Police (DGP) Mahender Reddy and chief secretaries to Health Ministry Shanti Kumari attended the meeting.

The meeting discussed the ongoing lockdown, precautionary measures and COVID-19  situation and other issues related to the pandemic situations in the State.

KCR is hopeful that the Novel Coronavirus infection would be reduced with the help of the strict rules during the nationwide regular lockdown.

The meeting was held after Somesh Kumar, Mahender Reddy and Shanti Kumari went on a special visit to Suryapet and a few districts to overview the situation due to the Novel Coronavirus.

After their day visit, the three directly reported to K. Chandrashekar Rao at Pragati Bhavan and submitted a detailed report on the same.

Based on the reports, the Telangana Government is hoping to witness a decline in the number of cases of COVID-19, in the coming days.  In addition, the State Government identified all those who are infected with the virus and made a contact list of people who are likely to be infected by the virus.   This process would help the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government to estimate the number of cases in the coming days and be prepared to curb the virus. Based on this update, the State Government would also identify containment zones in the State.

Meanwhile, the citizens of Telangana are cooperating with the State Government and are strictly following the lockdown guidelines.

Telangana reported a total of 945 cases of COVID-19 and 23 fatalities.
