Badminton player and Padma Bhushan awardee Saina Nehwal joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on the 29th of January.
Saina Nehwal joined the BJP in the presence of Arun Singh, the General Secretary of the BJP, along with other leaders of the Party. The joining of Saina Nehwal comes at a time when Delhi is getting ready for its Assembly elections.
According to sources, Saina Nehwal is expected to campaign for the BJP in Delhi for the forthcoming Assembly elections scheduled to be held on the 8th of February.
While joining the BJP, Ms. Nehwal said, “I have won medals for the Country. I am a very hardworking and I love hardworking persons. I can see Prime Minister Narendra Modi does so much for the Country, I want to do something for the Country with him.” She further added, “I draw a lot of inspiration from Narendra sir.”
Besides Saina Nehwal, her sister Chandranshu also joined the BJP ahead of the Delhi polls.
