In the wee hours of the 11th of November, the counting of votes ended and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) was announced as winner of the Bihar Assembly Elections 2020.

The counting of votes which started at 8:00 A.M., on the 10th of November, continued till 3:00 A.M., on the 11th of November.

The NDA, alliance of the Janata Dal (United) JD(U,) the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) the Hindustan Awam Morcha (HAM) and Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) won 125 seats, 3 seats more than majority mark.

The Mahagathbandhan of the Indian National Congress (INC,) the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and other left wing parties altogether secured 110 seats.

The majority mark to win the Bihar Assembly Elections is 122 of the total 243 seats.

Initially, the counting of votes showed a tough neck to neck fight between the NDA and the MGB.

However, as counting was close to finish, the NDA started to lead in more than 122 seats, keeping the MGB behind.

Ravi Shankar Prasad, the Union Minister of Law and Justice, Electronics and Information Technology and Communications said the hard work of Prime Minister NNarendra Modi paid off as the NDA won with the majority.

Mr. Prasad said, “Today is a historic day that NDA has won again the extraordinary trust of the people of Bihar. They trusted PM Modi’s leadership whose commitment resonated with them that without the development of Bihar, development of India will remain incomplete.”

The celebrations are being held in Bihar by the party workers of the NDA, the BJP and the right wing parties.

With this victory, the Nitish Kumar Government would mark a 5th term.
