In Bihar, two school students received a hefty amount in their bank accounts.
On the 16th of September, Udayan Mishra, the District Magistrate of Katihar, Bihar, confirmed the same. He said Ashish Kumar and Gurucharan Biswas, students of class 6 , received Rs. 6,20,11,100 (6.2 crores) and Rs. 90,52,21,223 (900 crores) respectively, in their bank accounts. The money worth crores was transferred on the night of the 15th of September, Wednesday.
When asked about the source of this huge amount, parents of both the children were unable to answer, raising concerns for the State Government officials. The news came into notice after the bank official of the Uttar Bihar Gramin Bank informed the district magistrate and officials about this huge transaction.
Speaking about the steps to be taken now, Mr. Udayan Mishra said, “Big amounts were credited in the accounts of two children. The amount can be seen in the mini statements. The senior officials of the bank are being informed. In addition, Mr. M.K. Madhukar, the LDM of Uttar Bihar Gramin Bank, said, “As soon as we learnt about the money being credited in the accounts of two children, we have put the accounts on freeze and stopped withdrawal. When inquiring with the parents of the children, they were also unable to reveal the source of the fund. Now, we are investigating the matter to find out who is the sender.”
This is the second such incident of unknown huge money transactions into random bank accounts in Bihar. Recently, a person named Ranjit Das of Bihar’s Khagaria district received Rs. 5.5 lakh in his Uttar Bihar Gramin Bank account. When the bank confirmed the error and asked him to return the amount, he refused.
Mr. Das said the money has been sent by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi Government, as an installment of Rs. 15 lakh, promised to every citizen.
Not only he refused to return the money, but withdrew the big amount of Rs. 5.5 lakh and spent it all.
As of now, he has been charged under the relevant section of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and is under police custody in Jail.
