On Tuesday, Yogesh Varshney, the leader of Youth Wing of BJP in West Bengal has issued a reward of Rs. 11 Lakh for the head of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. This threat was issued by the Yuva leader as a part of the rally on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanthi.
Varshney hit out at the Chief Minister over the action of the police on a rally that was held on Sunday in Birbhum, which is 180 km from Kolkata. This rally was organized as a part of pre-Hanuman Jayanthi celebrations. Varshney also alleged that people were beaten up brutally in the lathi charge by police. He went ahead and described the CM as a demon and said, “When I saw the video, I only had one thought… that if anyone gets me Mamata Banerjee’s head I will give them 11 lakh.”
Over the last fortnight, there were two Hindu festivals, Sri Ram Navami and Hanuman Jayanthi. The rallies organized as a part of this festival witnessed clashes and baton charge by the police. Also, in an attempt to enrage Mamata who said, “Some BJP leaders who do not know the culture of Bengal are flashing swords on the streets to intimidate people,” swords were raised at the rally for Sri Ram Navami.
In another incident around 40 kms from Kolkata, many were injured after a hand grenade was thrown at the Hanuman Jayanthi rally. These incidents did not go well with the BJP party members of the State, who issued this threat to the CM.
