Bihar: Army recruitment exam candidates stripped down to underwear

Bihar: In an horrific incident, the army recruitment examination board instructed the candidates to strip off their clothes at the time of examination. Around 11,000 men candidates were in their underwear, while their exam on Monday in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur for the post of clerk in the army.

Sources at the Army Regional Office (ARO) said that the candidates were asked to take down to their underwear to do away with any possibility of scraps of paper being hidden. The candidates finally sat on the ground in their briefs and used their thighs as tables.

The director of the army recruitment board has been quoted by a newspaper as defending the outrageous order. “We earlier had a bad experience while conducting exams. This has been done to avoid cheating,” he said.

Last year, images of mass cheating involving Class 10 students made international headlines. Parents, relatives and others were seen scaling the walls of the exam centre to pass scraps of papers to students, openly.
