The chiefs of the Indian Air Force (IAF) and the Indian Navy will be provided special Z + security.

On the 2nd of March, the Government of India took the decision to upgrade the security of B.S. Dhanoa, the Chief Air Marshal of the Indian Air Force, and Sunil Lanba, the Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral.

The decision came after a report by the security agencies with the perception of threat to the chiefs, due to the tense situation between India and Pakistan, post the Pulwama terror attack.

A Home Ministry official said, “In a meeting happened at MHA yesterday to review the internal security across the country, a decision was taken to increase the security for Air Force and Navy Chiefs. Now both these Chiefs will be provided with Z+ category security. Order to this effect has been passed.”

According to the order, the Delhi Police will give tight Z + category security to the chiefs. Speaking about the Army Chief, General Bipin Rawat is already provided the Z + security.

Z+ security is said to be the highest category of security in India, with approximately 55 personnel, including 10 National Security Guards (NSG) commandos.
