A day after Indian Government banned 118 Chinese applications including PUBG, the Chinese Government condemned the act. 

On the 3rd of September, the China’s Commerce Ministry, opposed the ban of 118 Chinese applications in India.

The Chinese Commerce Ministry said, Indian actions violate the legal interests of Chinese investors and service providers. The Chinese Government asked India to correct its mistakes and remove the ban.

Gao Feng, the Spokesperson of the Chinese Commerce Ministry said, “India has abused national security by imposing “discriminate restrictions.” He further added, “China-India economic and trade cooperation yields mutual benefits.”

On the 2nd of September, the Central Government banned another 118 mostly Chinese mobile apps including Chinese gaming and social media powerhouse Tencent’s popular video game PUBG Mobile, citing data security concerns.

The latest development came amid the India and China tensions over the border issues in Ladakh.

Recently, in June, the GoI also banned 59 applications including the widely used TikTok, ShareMe, WeChat, UC Browser.
