Meerut district Congress Party president Vinay Pradhan was sacked on Wednesday for calling the party Vice President Rahul Gandhi ‘Pappu.’ This incident happened when Pradhan decided to praise Gandhi but used ‘Pappu,’ a word used to mock Rahul

This was posted by him in a WhatsApp group of the party that went viral instantly. Pradhan was immediately evicted from his post. Pradhan, however, denied these allegations and said that he had not sent the message. He was quoted by a popular news daily saying, “this is an effort by some people in the party to malign me. I have not sent any such message. The screenshots being circulated have been photoshopped. I respect Rahul Gandhiji and would never use such language for him.”

Pradhan also alleged that the party refused to listen to his side before removing him from the post. The WhasApp message reads, “Rahul Gandhi is also known as Pappu by a section of people in this country. People of this country are witness to the fact that Pappu has never taken to a lavish lifestyle.”

The message also says, “Pappu never took part in the parties thrown by industrialists like Adani and Ambani because Pappu knew that these people would only exploit the common people’s resources. Pappu could have easily become the Prime Minister of this country but he did not.”

According to reports, the party leaders of the district have asked for Pradhan’s eviction. After consulting with Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee chief Raj Babbar, Ramkrishna Dwivedi, the disciplinary committee chairperson evicted Pradhan from all his posts. He held Vinay Pradhan guilty of violating the constitution of the Congress party. He said that it is an attempt to malign the party officials name and opposition’s attempt to divert from important issues like farm loan waiver.
