Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi, on the 14th of December, would hold a one day fast.

He would be holding the one day fast in solidarity in support of farmers protesting against the three farm laws.

The President of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) also requested members of the Party to extend support.

Mr. Kejriwal said, “I request all party (AAP) supporters and people across the country to observe fast for a day tomorrow (Monday) in solidarity with protesting farmers. I shall be observing a day’s fast too… Let’s support our farmers from our homes. I understand that it is not possible for many of us to be physically present in the (state) border points where the protesting farmer groups have gathered.”

The farmers of Haryana and Punjab gathered at Singhu Border would observe fast amid Bharat Bandh against the Union Government and the three agri laws.

The Parliament passed the three laws – The Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020 and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act 2020 – amid large scale protests from the Opposition and farmer unions.

However, the Union Government refused to roll back the laws and offered amendments, assuring continuation of MSP.

The Government said, the new laws would benefit farmers by demolishing middle men and would allow farmers to sell their produce anywhere in India.

Meanwhile, the farmers denied to negotiate and asked the Government of India (GoI) to scrap the laws.

In regard to this, 6 rounds of talks were held between the representative of GoI and farmer’s association. Unfortunately, all the talks failed without any solution.

Neither the GoI is Scraping the laws, nor the farmers are accepting the amendments.

The farmers’ union leaders sat on fast at 8:00 A.M., and would continue till 5:00 P.M., on the 14th of December at Singhu border.

In addition, a nationwide strike also has been called today in several region of India by farmers.

This would be the second nationwide strike or Bharat Bandh against the three farm laws, which would begin at 11:00 A.M.
