Checking provident fund details is an important task for millions of salaried workers. Easy access to account information can help subscribers keep track of their savings without visiting an office.
The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has introduced new services through its verified WhatsApp account. Union Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya launched the facility on Sunday.
Subscribers can now use WhatsApp to check their PF balance, access passbook details and view their five latest transactions. The service will also offer personal guidance to help members complete requirements under the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PMVBRY).
The announcement came during EPFO’s 74th Foundation Day event. Mandaviya also launched automatic settlement of eligible inactive PF accounts.
Under this facility, accounts verified through Aadhaar with balances of up to ₹1,000 can be settled without members filing individual claims. After identity and bank details are checked, the amount will be transferred to the eligible beneficiaries.
Around one lakh accounts, involving nearly ₹5 crore, are expected to benefit from this move.
