On the 7th of July, Friday, a fatal accident occurred near Chhattisgarh, killed three people and left as many as six injured.

Getting into the details, a bus carrying over forty people rammed into a stationary truck near Bilaspur region of Chhattisgarh.  Notably, the driver of the bus identified as Akram Raza (28,) lost control as he could not see the parked truck due to heavy rainfall, resulting in the tragic crash.

Mr. Santosh Singh, the Bilaspur Superintendent of Police,confirmed the incident and said, “The accident occurred near Beltara village when the bus with around 40 people on board was heading to Raipur from Ambikapur.”  Furthermore, after an initial investigation, the police confirmed the identities of the deceased people:  Sajan (30,) Rukdev (45,) both natives of Surajpur district, and bus driver Akram Raza (28,) a resident of Bilaspur.

In addition, the injured people were admitted to Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Sciences (CIMS,) Bilaspur.  Amongst the injured, two were said to be leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP.)  The condition of the BJP representatives and leaders Mr. Lilu Gupta, Mandal President of the BJP’s Latori Unit in Surajpur and  Mr. Vishambhar Yadav, the BJP’s Mandal General Secretary in Surajpur, is said to be critical and they have been shifted to a private hospital for a better treatment.

Meanwhile, Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh condemned the tragic fatal accident and announced an ex gratia of Rs. 4 lakhs to the families of those who died in the accident.

In a tweet, Mr. Bhupesh Baghel said, “I announce an assistance of ₹ 4 lakh to the kin members of each of the deceased in the accident with the bus which was heading to attend the public meeting of the Honorable Prime Minister (sic.)”   He further said, “Instructions have been given to the administration to provide better treatment to the injured.  We all stand with their families during this difficult time.”
