Around four lakhs people have been affected by the floods in 13 districts of Assam. This is a result of the incessant rains in the State.

The officials released a statement saying the floods have submerged low lying areas in Kaziranga National Park. Also, several rivers were showing mountain trend and flowing continuously. As the flow of the Brahmaputra has seen an increase, the ferry services between Guwahati and North Guwahati has been suspended till the flood decreases.

More than 400 students have been evacuated by the State Disaster Response Force to safer places in Nalbari. The worst affected areas include Lakhimpur, Karimganj and Golaghat. There have been 44 deaths related to floods in the State.

Almost 24 thousand people have taken refuge in 108 relief camps, where they have been provided with drinking water, rice, medicine and other necessities. Medical teams and flood relief help teams have been deployed to flood hit areas to help the needy.
