New Delhi: Siachen braveheart, Lance Naik Hanamanthappa Koppad passed away on Thursday. The funeral of the soldier is likely to be held at around 12.30 pm. At present, the body of the Hanamanthappa Koppad is at his residence and will be kept at a government school ground to allow people to pay last respects. Large number people are heading to Nehru Maidan grounds in Hubballi to pay last tributes.
On February 3, a deadly avalanche killed the jawans of Indian army at the highest battlefield, Siachen glacier. But, the Hanamanthappa miraculously escaped the death and he was found under the snow by the rescue team. He was immediately shifted to a hospital for the treatment. But the soldier breathed his last on Thursday due to multi-organ dysfunction. He is survived by his wife and daughter.
