The Gandhis are set to skip the key poll meeting of the Indian National Congress (INC) Conclave, in Raipur, Chhattisgarh.
According to sources, Mr. Rahul Gandhi, the former President of the INC, Ms. Priyanka Gandhi, the General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) and Ms. Sonia Gandhi, the former Interim President of the IN would skip the meeting, today, the 24th of February, Friday.
It is to be noted, the Gandhis want to give a free hand to the new Congress President Mr. Mallikarjun Kharge and not influence the decisions in any way.
They will, however, attend the rest of the conclave that hopes to brainstorm for the 2024 National Elections. During the three-day conclave of the INC, the party leaders would discuss several issues, 2024 election strategy and put forward six resolution.
After the recent Bharat Jodo Yatra, which was led by Mr. Rahul Gandhi, this is the first grand party meeting held by the Indian National Congress. Getting into the details, on the first day of the three day session, the steering committee, which is standing in for the Working Committee after the previous one was dissolved during the leadership tradition, would decide whether there will be elections to the top decision-making body or not.
On the 24th of February, following the meeting of the steering committee, there would be a meeting of the Subjects Committee at 4:00 P.M., the same day in which six resolutions will be considered.
On the 25th of February, Saturday, resolutions related to political, economic and international matters would be discussed.
The conclave would conclude on the 26th of February.
