Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the 8th of April, conducted an all party meeting to discuss the current situation due to the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19.

During the meeting, 80 % parties suggested and supported extending the Nationwide lockdown which is scheduled to end on the 15th of April.

Mr. Modi considered the suggestions and said lifting the lockdown in one go would be impossible and tough, as it may help in the spread of the Novel Coronavirus.

Pinaki Misra, the leader of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD,) said, “Prime Minister Modi made it clear that lockdown is not being lifted and also that the life pre-corona and post-corona will not be the same.”

Beside, health experts and the Health Ministry also suggested extending the lockdown due to the increasing numbers of COVID-19 cases.   According to the Union Health Ministry, India reported 149 deaths and 5,194 confirmed cases of Coronavirus in the country even as the country entered its third week of nationwide lockdown.

The Health Ministry also said there is no shortage of hyderoxoclurine, which is a major drug to treat COVID-19 patients, even after lifting partial export of the drug to the United States of America.

The other decisions over the lifting of the lockdown would be taken in another all party meeting scheduled on the 11th of April.

Stay tuned for further updates.
