In a tragic accident on Sunday evening, at Outer Delhi’s Narela, three people died. Ram Sanjeevan along with his wife and son were traveling on a scooter. The man slowed the bike down at a signal when a silver Santro that was speeding rammed into the bike. The impact threw the three of them on the side of the road hitting their heads.

The family was on their way to buy medicine for their 6 month old child who was at home suffering from a viral fever. The police informed the family had sustained fatal head injuries. The car driver was traced by his number plate that fell off his car in the collision. The accused, Shiv Kumar was arrested and later released on bail.

Ram Sanjeevan’s wife, Sundara was riding pillion with her son, Mukesh in front. Sundara’s eldest brother, Sharda Prashad explained,“I was riding my bicycle behind them when I suddenly saw them flung to the other side of the road, their heads hitting the road. The car’s driver could not be caught as he was driving at a very high speed. Even though a few passers by chased him, he fled.”

Sharada Prashad added,“We rushed all three to a hospital nearby, but the boy died on the way. His parents were referred to Lok Nayak Hospital, but they succumbed to their injuries a day later. Sajeevan died at 5:00 A.M., and Sundara died at 3:00 P.M.”

The grieving brother has decided to take custody of the 6 month old daughter. In an interview with the Times of India, he said, “Their daughter Ridhi is too young to understand what is happening at our house these days. She was so used to staying next to her parents and brother at all times that ever since the incident took place, she has not stopped crying. It’s even difficult to feed her as she’s used to her mother feeding her. I wonder what the future holds for her.”

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Rishi Pal reported, “A case of causing death due to negligence and rash and negligent driving was registered at Narela police station.” The driver has confessed to his transgressions and has been released on bail.
