The Indian National Congress (INC,) on the 20th of August, paid tribute to late Rajiv Gandhi, the former Prime Minister of India, on his 75th birth anniversary.
Senior INC leaders Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and Dr. Manmohan Singh visited Veer Bhumi, the memorial of late Rajiv Gandhi in Delhi and paid their respects.

Pranab Mukherjee, the former President of India, Hamid Ansari, the former Vice President of India, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Ahmed Patel also accompanied the Gandhis in paying tribute to late Rajiv Gandhi.
This year, the INC planned to organise a grand celebration in Delhi, on the birth anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi. The INC also directed the state presidents of the INC to conduct a grand celebration in their respective states.
Rahul Gandhi took to Twitter and remembered Rajiv Gandhi on the occasion. He said, “This week we will celebrate my father, Rajiv Gandhi Ji’s 75th birth anniversary with memorial events across India. To honour him, each day this week, I will draw attention to one of his many incredible achievements. Today, the Information Technology revolution.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also took to Twitter and paid his tribute to Rajiv Gandhi.

K.C. Venugopal, the General Secretary of the INC, supervised the functionaries of the INC and asked them to celebrate the day in every state, district and block.
The grand celebration at national level will be conducted on the 22nd of August, at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in Delhi.
