India-Bangladesh border to be sealed completely!

The Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday said that the India-Bangladesh border will be sealed completely by mid-2018. He said that for security reasons, they will be sealing the more than 200 kilometre long border. Speaking to the BJP workers in Guwahati, Rajnath Singh said,“We are committed to sealing the 223.7-km Indo-Bangladesh border and the process is on. It is expected to be completed within the next year and a half.”

The minister also added “Bangladesh is our neighboring country and we share a good and warm relation, which we will continue to pursue and remain committed to in the future.” The Union minister made no reference to illegal migration or granting of citizenship to Hindu refugees. He also assured people of Assam that BJP is bound to protect them and has the best interest of indigenous population’s protection as an agenda according to Clause 6 of Assam Accord. He said, “We are committed to Clause 6 of the Assam Accord and will protect it even if we have to amend the Constitution.”
Rajnath Singh also assured that the National Register of Citizens process in underway and the party will complete it soon. He added that the Centre will make no compromises regarding the safety of the states near the border and will provide full protection. He mentioned that no violence will be entertained and strict action will be taken against those initiating violence.
