India COVID-19 Update: In 24 Hours, Nation Records 2.8 Lakh Cases With 4,157 Fatalities

The Wuhan virus cases in India recorded another single day spike of more than 2 lakh cases with 4,157 fatalities. 

In the past 24 hours, India reported 2,08,921 new COVID-19 cases, 4,157 deaths and 2,95,955 recoveries. The new cases came a day after India reported the lowest 1,96,427 single day cases of Wuhan virus since April. The updated COVID-19 figures were confirmed by the Union Health Ministry on the 26th of May and the updated data is available on the official website of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW.) As per the MoHFW, India has 27,115,779 positive cases, of which 24,350,816 are recovered/discharged cases, 24,95,591 are active cases and 3,11,388 deceased cases. Besides this, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR,) confirmed 33,48,11,496 samples being tested for the Wuhan virus till date, including 22,17,320 tested in the past 24 hours.

Recently, India also crossed the mark of 3 lakh deaths due to the Wuhan virus and became the third with over 3 lakh death cases. The first two nations with more than 3 lakh deaths due to the Wuhan virus are the United States of America (U.S.A.,) followed Brazil.

It is to be noted, in just 15 days India has recorded over 60,000 deaths, taking the total tally to 3,11,388.

In addition, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi and West Bengal have highest COVID-19 cases. These states/UTs have more than 10,00,000 active cases of COVID-19.

Meanwhile a total of 20,06,62,456 people have been vaccinated so far in India. Of the total vaccinated, 20,39,087 people received doses in the past 24 hours. India has 89.66 % recovery rate and 1.10 % fatality rate.

In addition, highlighting the worldwide COVID-19 data, the cases rise unabated across the globe with 167,506,335 positive cases, of which 148,581,009 have recovered, 3,477,774 have died so far.

Worldwide, the U.S.A., remains the worst hit country with 33,896,035, followed by India with 224,95,591 cases and Brazil with 16,195,981 cases.
