On the 14th of September, India recorded 92,076 fresh cases of the Novel Coronavirus.

The new cases recorded in the past 24 hours took the overall tally to approximately 48 lakhs.

The new COVID-19 cases were confirmed by the Union Health Ministry.

According to the updated date on the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) website, there are 9,86,598 active cases, 37,80,107 recovered/discharged patients and 79,722 deceased.

In the past 24 hours, India recorded 1,136 fatalities.

According to the updated data, 60% of cases were from five states which include Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh.

While Maharashtra has a total of 10,60,308 cases, Andhra Pradesh has 5,67,123 cases, followed by Tamil Nadu with 5,02,759 cases, Karnataka 4,59,449 and Uttar Pradesh 3,12,036.

Concerned about everyday rise in the aforementioned states, the Central Government urged Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh to ensure adequate oxygen availability in all healthcare facilities and unrestricted intra- and inter-state movement of oxygen cylinders because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Besides five states, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Rajasthan are also witnessing massive single day spike of cases.

Meanwhile, Harsh Vardhan, the Health Minister of India on the 13rd of September, addressed the media and spoke about the possibility of a vaccine for the COVID-19 in the next year.

Mr. Vardhan said the Government is taking full precautions in human trials of vaccines and the National Expert Group on Vaccine Administration is drawing up a detailed strategy on how to immunise the majority of the population.

In addition, COVAXIN, the potential candidate vaccine for the Novel Coronavirus also showed positive responses after vaccinating animals.

If the trials are successful, COVAXIN is likely to be the first proven vaccine for COVID-19 in India.
