India Reports 11,039 New COVID-19 Cases, Total At 1,07,77,284

On the 3rd of February, India reported 11,039 new cases of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19.

In addition, India reported 110 new death cases and 14,225 discharged cases.

With the new cases,India’s COVID-19 tally of cases increased to 1,07,77,284. In addition India has 1,04,62,631 recovery cases, active cases are at 1,60,057 and 1,54,596 deceased cases.

The updated figure was confirmed by the Union Health Ministry and the data is available at the official website of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW.

Though India has the second highest COVID-19 positive cases, the recovery rate is 97.80 %.

Meanwhile, COVID-19 case fatality rate stands at 1.43 % and active cases rate is 1.49 %

A total of 19,84,73,178 samples were tested for COVID-19 up to the 3rd of February.

Out of these, 7,21,121 samples were tested till the 2nd of February. The data regarding the COVID-19 infection was confirmed by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR.)

Meanwhile, 41,38,918 people have been administered COVID-19 vaccine across the country so far.

The nationwide vaccination drive which started on the 16th of January, aims to vaccinate 133 crore citizens of India.

The two India made and Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) approved vaccinations (COVAXIN and Covisheild) are being administered to people. While COVAXIN is manufactured by the Hyderabad based Bharat Biotech International Private Limited, Covisheild is manufactured by the Serum Institute of India (SII.)

The vaccination drive would continue in a phased manner starting from healthcare workers, sanitation staff, police personnel, senior citizens and others.

However, pregnant women, people above 80 years and children below 5 year would not be given the doses of COVID-19 vaccines..
