On the 31st of August, India reported 30,941 new cases of the Wuhan virus, also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19.)
After reporting more than 40,000 cases in the past few days, today India reported a fall in the single day cases. According to the Union Health Ministry, India reported 30,941 new cases, 350 fatalities and 36,275 recovered cases from the deadly Wuhan virus.
The new cases were confirmed after conducting 13,94,573 sample tests for COVID-19. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) confirmed a total of 52,15,41,098 tests for COVID-19 till date.
With this, India has 3,27,68,880 positive cases, of which 3,19,59,680 are recovered/discharged cases, 3,70,640 are active cases and 4,38,560 are deceased. The aforementioned figures were confirmed by the Union Health Ministry and updated on the official website of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW.)
It is to be noted, South Indian states like Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh are continuously reporting a rise in the COVID-19 cases. In addition, Kerala alone reported 19,662 new cases and 132 deaths.
With this, India has an active case rate of 1.13 %, 97.53 % recovery rate and 1.34 % fatality rate.
Meanwhile, the Union Health Ministry said a total of 63.43 crore vaccine doses have been administered in the country so far.
Recently, the Ministry of Home Affairs alerted states and union territories (UTs) to take precautionary measures and steps to control the possible third wave of COVID-19. The MHA urged people to avoid crowds and gatherings during the upcoming festival seasons to prevent the possible spread of COVID-19. The Ministry also asked people to strictly follow COVID-19 appropriate behavior like wearing face masks, social distancing and use of sanitizer.
